Introduction
Psalm 52 is David’s response to the treachery of Doeg the Edomite, who betrayed him and caused the deaths of innocent priests (1 Samuel 21–22). This psalm draws a sharp contrast between the arrogant and deceitful and those who trust in God’s unfailing love.
Background of Psalm 52
David wrote this psalm after Doeg reported to Saul that David had received help from the priests of Nob. Saul, in his anger, ordered the massacre of the entire priestly city. Psalm 52 is a wisdom and imprecatory psalm, warning about the fate of evildoers and encouraging God’s people to remain rooted in righteousness.

What Does Psalm 52 Mean?
David exposes the arrogance and destruction caused by those who trust in their lies and wealth. But he contrasts this with his own position—like an olive tree, planted and flourishing in God’s presence because he trusts in God’s faithful love.
